Chef Series Joseph Ehtier of Cheever Tavern

What goes on behind the scenes of a restaurant, what inspired your favorite chef or owner to get into the restaurant business!  What’s their favorite tool and what do they LOVE for comfort food!

Today we meet  Joseph Ethier  who is the executive chef of Cheever Tavern a new restaurant in Norwell!  Imagine planning on opening a new restaurant and opening in these crazy times!  Go and support they are open. They have tackled curbside and have an absolutely beautiful patio to eat and drink .

Welcome to Cheever Tavern, where flavorful, handmade food and drink, prepared with the freshest, locally sourced ingredients, is served in an equally tasteful setting, whether you’re inside, on the deck, or beside the fire pit on the patio. We’re a contemporary American Tavern situated in historic Norwell Center, with a nod to the past, but a passion for today’s tastes.

Cheever Tavern is named for Pulitzer Prize winner John Cheever, one of America’s premier authors of the 20th century. Cheever was born in Quincy, and he attended Thayer Academy in Braintree. His first published short story, “Expelled,” was based on his experience at Thayer. Cheever passed away on June 18, 1982. His funeral was held across the street at the First Parish Unitarian Church, with his eulogy delivered by John Updike. He is buried next to his parents, a few feet from the front door of Cheever Tavern.

Great burger and one of the best Lobster rolls around. Corn bread was very good. Really nicely designed and decorated.

We had a lovely dinner at Cheever Tavern last night on the brand new patio. The service was exceptional and the food was excellent. Can’t wait to go back!

The food was exceptional. The outside is gorgeous, can’t wait to go in. I had the half baked mac and cheese with the hot chicken, it was creamy with some heat, really outstanding. my wife had the street tacos, she loved them. My oldest who is a vegetarian really like the ravioli. My youngest had the chicken fingers and fries. The fries were from real potatoes, and they were great.  we shared the cheesy tots, can’t recommend them enough.
