Widowmaker Brewing New Brewery in Braintree MA

Widowmaker Brewing  in Braintree open offically opened its taproom on Woods Rd during September 2017 .

Widowmaker features a 70-seat taproom, and its beer selection includes a pale ale, two kinds of stouts, a blonde ale, an IPA, and a double IPA.

Widowmaker will be bringing in   food trucks to provide sustenance for visitors during open hours.

Currently on Tap -subject to change

Greenbush Pale Ale, 6.8% ABV Greenbush pours a golden haze and emits an instant passion fruit aroma. What started as a single-hop Mosaic pale ale has evolved over time, but still remains over 80% Mosaic. A dry finish to one of our of favorite offerings.

Donut Shop Coffee Stout, 6.5% ABV The flavor of Donut Shop is multi-layered. It pours a thick, caramel head with an aroma of dark coffee and hints of chocolate and roast. At initial taste you get sweetness up front and a nice silky mouthfeel, rounding out to a subtle coffee finish. Cold Brewed by Widowmaker Brewing, using roasted beans from Red Eye Coffee Roasters: 3 Otis Street in Hingham MA

50-Year Storm, American DIPA, 7.8% ABV Vaya con Dios! 50-Year Storm pours a hazy gold with a thick white head. A well-balanced beer with floral notes upfront and a grapefruit finish. Australian hops and lots of them!

Sens Lives, American Blonde, 4.3% ABV Pours a light golden haze with big aromas of citrus and grapefruit. Very little bitterness makes this beer extremely drinkable, a perfect summer beer.

Pure Hoppy: Simcoe, American IPA, 7.2% ABV Our single hop IPA series, constantly evolving always hoppy! Simcoe is one of our favorite dual purpose hops and we could not be happier with how it plays in the latest version of Pure Hoppy!

com-RAD Russian Imperial Stout, 10.1% ABV We decided to have some fun with Donut Shop and see if we could bring the smooth creaminess of our in house favorite to a big textured Russian Imperial. Brewed with Belgium Candy syrups as well as following Donut Shop’s coffee additions, we could not be more pleased with the results! Cold Brewed by Widowmaker Brewing, using roasted beans from Red Eye Coffee Roasters: 3 Otis Street in Hingham MA

Here is some of the buzz from theirAugust 2017 soft opening, they are now opened of September 2017.

We attended a soft opening and this place is FANTASTIC! We’ve tried many places for Indian food that stands out and this place is a winner all around! Excellent customer service, the food was wonderful and the renovations to the building look elegant and trendy, I wish we could give more stars!! The samosas were tender and flavorful, the naan was perfectly seasoned, the chicken tikka masala was fresh and had the perfect amount of heat, everything was on point, this place is sure to be a hot spot! Congratulations!

Our first taste was a big hit! We got takeout (since the Patriots were on tv tonight) and when I picked up my order, I could tell from the enticing aromas in the restaurant it was going to be good. From the hefty samosas packed with savory veggies in a sturdy dough, to the creamy tikka masala, to the beautiful boneless chicken biryani, every dish was delicious. My husband especially liked the garlic naan with its generous blanket of garlic! We’ll definitely be back – glad to have you in the neighborhood!

fiance and I had the pleasure of being at the Soft opening today for lunch. Every thing was great, staff was incredibly nice and always helpful (especially great to see on day 1 soft open). Food was so great: pricing, quantity, and quality were all worth it. We were stuffed. Definitely excited to make this a regular spot.
Also- WOW on the incredible interior renovation. The place is beautiful.

Awesome food coupled with great service. Glad to taste that they kept food items taste so authentic which reminded me of food days in India. Go for EXTRA SPICE on all their food items if you tooth for spicy taste. Strongly recommend this place. Keep it up Guys.

Here is some of the buzz so far

Just happened to drive by this lovely new North Weymouth “kitchen with a bar” on their opening day, hesitated to go in as we were expecting a lot of kinks needing to be worked out- we were so surprised and grateful we made the stop. Service worked like clockwork, food delivered before even expected! The staff treated us like we were old town friends, professional and friendly. We had the chicken poutine and Mongolian chicken fingers, and a phenomenal Berry Sangria shortcake! We will be back to try the entire menu!

We hesitated to stop in last night thinking there would be delays in service being so new. How wrong we were. Our server was great, overall service spectacular. We shared the Mongolian Chicken and ordered the Mac n Cheese and Fish Tacos. Definitely not disappointed and all very good. We’ll be back to try more.

The chicken pot pie poutine is to die for!  fish tacos came with two shrimp and a white fish in eat taco, breaded and fried to perfection. And the Moscow mule I had to drink at the bar… delicious!

We were there last night very nice inside and the food was great We started with a fried calamari special it had house made fried pickles in it, it was very nice, my wife had the swordfish with pastrami spice rub, toped apple-mustard relish, very moist ,nice portion and I had the steak frites 8oz sirloin with bernaise sauce French fries (that were done great),and a small salad. The service was spot on, nice people that own this place, We will be back.

Fisher’s Pub in Middleboro Now Open

Dave Fisher has openned up his 3rd restaurant in Middlboro  Fisher’s Pub. Dave is also the owner of Swampie favorites  Harry’s Bar and Grill  and Dave’s Dinner,

The  South Middleboro location  most recently known as the 360 Sports Pub before Fisher purchased the spacein earl y 2016.  The location had been empty for a wee

“The Menu at Fisher’s Pub will be very similar to Harry’s – chicken wings, roast beef sandwiches, fried clams, steak tips, burgers.

Here is some Swampie buzz on  Harry’s

Our small family visited Harry’s tonight for the first time. Our party had all the ingredients for a bad experience where ever we went: 2 adults who refused to cook but were too hungry to decide on a place, and an over tired 2 year old with an appetite for destruction when shes hungry. After passing by many times we decided to stop in tonight. We began to have the natural anxious thoughts that anyone has when trying a new restaurant for the first time, “I hope this is worth the wait”. It definitley is. The food hit the spot, the pricing is a plus, but the service was exceptional. Our server was quick to great us and get our drinks. Although she was serving other tables, she was very attentive to ours as well. Any other staff that visited our table were friendly as well. Everything was fast and efficient in this place like a well oiled machine. The obvious goal with a dining area that size is to flip tables as fast as possible, but we never felt rushed or pressured, we felt welcomed. That is a rare accomplishment for any restaurant. We can’t wait to come back and sit on the flight deck!

They make the best drinks – try the Salty Caramel Martini! So convenient we get take out at least 3 or 4 times a month. Favorites are the Caesar Salad with Broiled Scallops, Baked Haddock, Rack of Ribs…….one of the specials – Scallops with feta cheese, black olives, artichoke hearts and mashed potatoes is to die for. We lived in Middleboro 9 years before even going there – got a lot of making up to do!!!

Harry’s Bar and Grille has the best ribs and chicken wings in town! The prices are affordable, they do great specials and the waitstaff is amazing! Friendly, sociable atmosphere, great bar for a quick drink!

Anna’s Harborside Grille Plymouth 5th year Anniversary

Congratulations to Anna’s Harborside Grille for celebrating 5 years in business! With restaurant closing so often it is nice to see one that is lasting as long as this one.

Here is some of the Swampie Buzz

I know I have written about Anna’s Harborside in Plymouth before, but they truly have the best food and service around. Their fish tacos are to die for and their outdoor patio is perfect in the summer! Be sure to check them out!

Went to Anna’s Harborside in Plymouth again (our go to restaurant). We tried their special appetizer this evening: the Wild Game Sampler – Venison and Wild Board sausage with blueberry marmalade, chorizo aioli, crostinis and sliced kasseri cheese.
This is one of the best things I have ever had in my dining experiences. Honestly, it was that good. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend checking Anna’s out before this sampler is gone.

Lunch today at a favorite Plymouth waterfront spot, Anna’s Harborside. We miss the outdoor patio, but hold on, summer is coming. So, it was a high top table inside, not my DH favorite, but comfy enough. And, when the food arrives, it immediately focuses attention in the plate, not the location.
I had the fish tacos, three tacos filled with haddock, veggies and sauce. The dish came with sweet potato fries, another favorite. DH is rather set his ways these days and looks to order the same thing he did last time he was here. That’s been going on for quite a while at Anna’s where the roast beef sandwich is always his choice. Of course, he has leftovers too. Today, we used an online voucher but Annas is a place we go whether or not we have a voucher. Service there is top notch, too!

First time customers & certainly won’t be the last. Super small place that relies on outdoor square footage to accommodate the masses in their high season. We had 7 pm reservations for four & were seated just before 7:30, as they had ‘lingerers’. The place is small, so what can you do? It was clear the hostess & someone I assumed was a manager, were uncomfortable due to the delay & apologized for the inconvenience. I checked their menu in advance & was aware that this eatery also specializes in Greek food, which again, I don’t fancy. Our table ordered buffalo chicken nachos, steak tips (medium), baked scallops, chicken santorini & herb chicken. Sides were mashed, roasted red bliss taters & a mixed veg of carrots, green beans & red peppers. The nachos platter was large & amply covered in spicy chicken & plenty of cheese, tomatoes & onions. Nice start to the meal. My steak tips were cooked perfectly, tender & tasty & you needed no butter or salt on the mashed. My husband loved his scallops, which had a light dusting of crumb & butter topping. Our friends enjoyed their chicken dishes & 3 out of 4 of us brought food home. No dessert to be had last night, but I did order two of their caramel eggnog cocktails, which were great. Service was good & we’ll definitely go back; with reservations (or at an off time to sit at the bar) & also want to visit their outdoor area. If you’ve yet to go, add it to your list!

Anna’s Harborside in Plymouth was the setting for another wonderful lunch. The roast beef sandwich, as pictured, was compressed a bit to cut in in half, otherwise DH couldn’t handle it. It was topped with BLT and cheese. And, half of it came home for another meal. One of my favorites was on the special menu, lamb wrap, so I couldn’t resist. With a smudge of the Greek dressing (it’s so good that I would welcome a bit more) along with tomatoes, lettuce and onion, it is sooooo good! I had sweet potato fries and he had regular fries. And, we had a a Living Social voucher to eat at one of our favorite places! Service by Jill was excellent!

Shaking Crab Cajun Seafood Now Open in Quincy’s Hancock District

Shaking Crab Seafood restaurant has opened up the Hancock District  Quincy Center  April 2017 .  It   features Cajun-style seafood, serving up mussels, lobster, shrimp, and more, shaken up with a spice blend in a bag — and served in that bag. Also on the menu: fries, onion rings, wings, fried oysters, mac and cheese, mochi, and a few other items.    Shaking Crab  also has a location in Newton MA.

How to order

Step 1 Pick your seafood
Step 2 Choose your sauce -Shakin,Gulf, Seoul
Step 3 How spicy?
Step 4 Add your sides

Here are some of their reviews of food in both Quincy and Newton

I got the blue crab with a side of potatoes and it doesn’t come on a plate; it comes in a bag that they shake with all the spices and stuff mixed in. It’s messy food and it’s absolutely delicious. I got mine spicy but they have non spicy options as well. Keep in mind: they do provide bibs, wet napkins, a plastic bag to dump all the shells in, and gloves. Your hands and clothes will stay clean. Stay open to the experience, your face will get messy, but the food is really really good. Or at least, I enjoyed it. And I thought the servers were very nice and attentive. Can’t wait for the official opening of this place. It’s a wonderful addition to the Quincy food scene. Highly recommend giving this place a try

My recent trip to Shaking Crab was quite wonderful! The food was delightful in both taste and fun. The variety of sauces captured my taste buds while the plentiful bags of seafood filled my stomach. In addition, the set up of the restaurant makes for an inviting environment into the Shaking Crab experience. This was awesome, and I don’t even like seafood!

Soeul seasoning is the Best flavor for seafood shakin’ in a bag. My favorites are the crawfish, littlenecks, mussels, fried oysters, and garlic noodles, but definitely don’t forget to add in the corn and sausages into the seafood mix. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for over 10 years and this place hires the best servers to take care of you all night! They are friendly, great at what they do, modern/stylish and happy to serve. No negative vibe from anyone of them. Haven’t once had any bad service every time I stop in. I do have one recommendation for the place. They should label the bags with the flavor and spiciness so when there’s a large party, customers would know which is which because some of the sauces look the same. All in all 5 out of 5!

get the blue crab with the Seoul chili sauce. And the crawfish with the same sauce. It is so good. They are also children friendly. Everyone that I have brought loves it and are returning customers. The best time to go is early Saturday and Sunday before 3. And during the middle of the week. On the weekends I do take out. But I love it. And they remember my face everytime I come here. Can’t wait until they open the new one. Plus there service is great. They move fast and always check on you I don’t care how busy it is.

Sorelle’s Italian restaurant is finally open in April 2017    Sorelle Bar & Grill   opens  up in the former location of long time Italian favorite  Vin & Eddie restaurant on Route 18 in  Abington.   We are finally glad to see it open as it took them a lot longer than anticipated.  While Vin & Eddie’s served traditional Italian food, Sorelle will have more modern cuisine, including baked cod with fried polenta, acorn squash tortellini, and arugula pesto.

Here is the Swampie Buzz  so far

The restaurant is beautiful. Very friendly greeters. Our reservation was for 6:15 pm. We got seated right away. The place was packed! Waiter was very friendly. He recommended this beautiful antipasto. I ordered the cod. It came with asparagus and polenta sticks. All yummy! Hubby had the salmon. It came with fingerling potatoes…i forget the veg. I took a bite of his salmon and it was very good. Food presentation is beautiful! The restaurant emptied out quite a bit by 7:30. Waiter let us sit and chat with our friends. No rush to get us out. By 8:15 we noticed that it was packed again so we left. I would go back to try other items on the menu. I hope they change up the menu now and then or add daily specials.

Finally! There’s no need to go into Boston or Providence! The beautiful atmosphere makes you feel like Chef Andrea  brought a little bit of Italy home to us! Delicious flavors yet not too exotic. Appetizers were nothing short of amazing. From the brussel sprouts to the calamari. Short Ribs melt in your mouth! Chicken Saltimbocca was delicious. The service was warm and friendly. Reasonable prices and so close to home. We will definitely be back very soon!

Our server, was fabulous!!! He was very knowledgeable, made recommendations and along with all the staff, was very attentive. The food was amazing!! We started with the roasted pear salad which was delicious!! My husband had the salmon and I, the Chicken Saltimbocca. Both meals  were very generous portions and delectable!! We decided  to take  desserts to go as we were very full. I ordered the tiramisu and my friend  the bread pudding, both desserts were again very delicious! Our whole evening at Sorelle was amazing!!! I suggest everyone try this new amazing restaurant, you won’t be disappointed, ! We will definitely be back!!!

Brick and Beam Restaurant to Open in Old Villa Rosa Quincy MA

Update July 2017  Brick and Beam  is  now opened from   4-10pm for dinner~ Enjoy

A new restaurant  Brick and Beam  will be opening at the former   site of the long time Italian Restaurant  Villa Rosa in Quincy MA.    It is a expected to have June 2017 opening with 145 seats and expected to be a higher end restaurant  Brick and Beam Restaurant to Open in Old Villa Rosa Quincy MA

The  new eatery  will be run be run by by Ray Butler, who owns The Banshee in Dorchester, and Bret Kelly, who owns The North Star in Boston’s West End.

The Villa Rosa was open for almost 65 years and closed during the early summer 2016

Here is the buzz

We finally made it to Brick and Beam tonight. Loved everything about it. Had steak tips that melted in your mouth, really good chowder, shrimp cocktail and a burger!
Our waitress Nicole was just awesome!
We will be back. So happy we have a new favorite local restaurant.
When it first opened and then closed so many people’s comments we just plain mean! I for one are happy that they opened then closed to reinvent and opened again. Kudos to the owners for doing that. That was brilliant!
Wishing nothing but success for Brick and Beam.

Incredible meal at Brick & Beam last night! Delicious and great size lobster roll, my new favorite fries, brussel sprouts that were perfectly crispy, and the meatball appetizer that is fit for any meal. Amazing energy ripples through the restaurant and topped with stellar service. Well done to the Brick & Beam team! We’ll see you again next week.

Love this place. Great food and great place to socialize. The interior design is very modern and cool. You don’t have to go into Boston when you have a place like Brick & Beam in the neighborhood. The staff is very friendly and the portions don’t leave you wanting more (1 lb meatball, anyone?). Can’t wait to go back and try something different from the menu.

Wicked friendly staff, great drinks, and very tasty dishes make this a perfect replacement for the old Villa Rosa. The inside is well laid out with two separate bar areas and a variety of seating. Even when it was packed on a Friday evening I could hear my friend and could see lots of people enjoying themselves in conversation. The big meatball appetizer was awesome and the steak tips were perfectly cooked. Looking forward to going back! Welcome to the neighborhood!

We are some of the local folks who waited impatiently for the plywood to come down. Knew they would be busy right off the bat but underestimated the mob. First visit was derailed but management promised to improve and impress. Tonight they did (above and beyond) and yes we will be back. Lobster roll, salmon and sticky pudding were loved by all. Thank you Brick and Beam for giving my folks such a lovely dining experience.
