The Place: Chattabox, Bridgewater
The Good: I would like to start this out by saying that I have lived in East Bridgewater for 28 years and I have never been to
Chattabox- until now

I had to leave work early yesterday for an appointment. My friend also had an appointment around the same time. I text and asked her if she would like to go to lunch. She agreed and then after some chat, we decided we were going to go to the 99.
Halfway down the road I asked her if she wanted to try something new even though I knew she had had pad Thai the night before. My friend is always game to try new things so we pulled into ChattaBox parking lot.
(I will note that my cousin told me that if I was heading towards that way, that I should check out sugarcane which she said she liked better. She told me that chatterbox was reminiscent of crystals kitchen.)
We arrived around 3:15 PM and there were only two other people in the place. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but I knew something was not right the moment I walked in. I knew that we were in for some sort of “experience.” Something felt off.
We were given menus, and about 10 minutes later a waiter came over and asked if we would like drinks. I ordered my usual ginger ale, and my friend got water with lemon. I was given a fancy glass with a can of ginger ale. Weird. I guess being in a restaurant like that, I didn’t expect a can to be sitting on the table, but okay. I’m easygoing, so to speak, but I expect cans to be in a sub shop.
About another 10 minutes later, the waiter came back and asked if we were ready to order. Having had about 20 minutes to look at a menu, I would say so. My friend and I decided on chicken pad Thai, chicken satay, and an order of lettuce wraps. I told my friend to order something completely different that we had never tried at any other Thai place, so she chose the lettuce wraps.
Our food arrived about 15 minutes after ordering, and here’s what I thought about it: The chicken satay was absolutely nothing to write home about. It was funny because I said to my friend it kind of smelled like crackers or cake. We both couldn’t put our finger on it, but the texture was just kind of weird, and so was the taste. It came with peanut sauce.
Our lettuce wraps arrived, and when I ordered them, I asked if celery could be omitted, and they said it could not be. But that’s okay; the pieces were big enough for me to see and push aside. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at these lettuce wraps. The filling was wonderful, and I hardly ever eat lettuce other than in a salad, but this was very good, and I would’ve eaten more, but I knew that our chicken pad Thai was on its way out. This was served with hoisin sauce, which I love (my friend didn’t).
Our chicken pad Thai arrived about five minutes after the rest of our food, and I actually loved the taste and texture of this. I asked for peanuts on the side because my friend does not like peanuts, and they obliged. I apologize for not getting a picture of the pad Thai, but I did manage to snap a picture of my plate that had it on it.
The bad: I usually hate putting any sort of bad or ugly in any review, but I noticed one thing in there; the service was sketchy at best. Nobody came over to our table the entire time we were eating, and it seemed like they were just hanging around the area where they serve the food from. Granted, it wasn’t busy, but the server came over at the very end of the meal and asked if I wanted another ginger ale. Um, no thanks! I am all done with my meal; no need for more soda.
There is no ugly here, but I think that if we had better service, I would probably go back. Don’t get me wrong, our server, Tom, was very nice when he was at our table, but I hate to have to call somebody over, especially when it’s just me and my friend in the restaurant. You would’ve thought that somebody would have come over to the table halfway during the meal to see if we needed anything.
Maybe I am very spoiled with Crystal’s Kitchen’s service. Even when they are not busy, there is always somebody walking around with a water pitcher and giving you water, even if you don’t need it, LOL. In a pinch, and I mean a really small pinch, I would probably go back, but for takeout only. The food was good, but again, maybe I’m just spoiled with Crystal’s at this point.

Take out from Chatta Box in Bridgewater last (Saturday) night. Garlic fried rice, super crazy pad Thai, coconut chicken tenders, beef satay and veggie rolls. The food was outstanding! — at Chatta Box.
My girlfriend and I got takeout at The Chatta Box in Bridgewater. We both got the chicken satay with peanut sauce. Not to crazy about the peanut sauce but the chicken was good. My girlfriend also got salted edamame. I opted for yum nua, grilled slices of beef tossed on a salad served with lemon mint dressing. Dressing was unique but I didn’t realize on much good they give you. Lots of vegetables and the beef was good.
You know that feeling when you don’t want to take the last bite because then your food will be all gone? Yup. That’s where I am right now. I brought my Chatta Box leftover fried rice with chicken for lunch today and now it’s gone. The deliciousness of the scallions and magical flavors made me eat this slowly because I really wanted to savor the moment but alas, my container is empty and I am sad.
If you haven’t tried The Chatta Box in Bridgewater you really should. Everything is delicious.
