Here are some Swampie buzz of Wood’s seafood
We felt like having good seafood tonight, so went to Woods of course. He felt like having swordfish, I wanted clams. The swordfish was perfection! Fresh grilled with just a little seasoning. My clams were lightly fried and big, like I like them when they’re tender. Even fries were awesome. They said they’ve been getting small ones but tonight were big. We made a point of complimenting the chef.
We went to Wood’s Seafood last night in Plymouth. Among us we had a lobster roll, fried shrimp plate, clam strips plate, lobster bisque, and fish and chips. Everyone was happy! (And sharing each other’s.) And with the hustle and bustle at the waterfront last night, I’m sure it was the least wait for food. And even though it always seems there aren’t any places to sit, it doesn’t take long before something opens up (and before our food came). Two thumbs up, will go back.
My sister bought a lobster tail there, then ordered a fried clam plate. They were kind enough to give her a small cup of drawn butter for her lobster. She was in heaven. She was trying to get as much seafood in as she could as she was visiting from Virginia
Take out woods seafood Plymouth waterfront. I got haddock and scallop plate with rice pilaf and cole slaw, hubby got grilled swordfish double rice pilaf. Delicious. Fresh seafood not to bad of a price. Call ahead for take out line is always out the door.
Another fabulous meal at woods seafood of Plymouth right on the waterfront. My son and I split the seafood platter and an order of onion rings. Everything was perfect and the was enough food for two adults (my son is 15 and everyone knows teenage boys can eat) and even have enough left over that he’ll be able to have that for dinner,( or lunch tomorrow, or a midnight snack, breakfast you get the idea)
Went to Wood’s Seafood in Plymouth yesterday for my birthday. Curiosity got the better of me after reading about it on my foodie groups because I frequent Check out where Swampies dine out on the Plymouth Waterfront but never knew this place existed. They do have some inside seating with a nice view but we decided to get takeout and go sit somewhere outside to eat. I got a scallop dinner which came with fries and my friend got a lobster roll. Each of us also got a side of onion rings. Everything was packed well and the tartar sauce, ketchup, utensils etc. were already in the bag. We went down the road and found a quiet spot with a table that had some shade. When we opened up our bags of Onion Rings, we were surprised to see the size of our order – huge. I barely made a dent in mine! Likewise for the scallop plate where the scallops almost completely covered the fries underneath! Sorry I didn’t take a picture but we were busy holding down our plates so the wind didn’t take our food. The scallops were deliciously sweet and cooked perfectly. I heard no complaints from my friend as she was finishing her lobster roll, and I brought home at least half of my meal to enjoy today! Very reasonably priced, IMHO. The onion rings were 4.95, my scallop plate was $16.95 and I think the lobster roll was $15.95, I will definitely return to Wood’s Seafood located on Town Pier, Plymouth, MA.
Tonight I got take out from Wood Seafood in Plymouth. We got steamers, boiled lobstah, shrimp cocktail, & smelt plate. I’m sorry 2 say we gobbled it up so fast that I got no picture! LOL! The after math was really horrifying so I thought it best not 2 post them! LOL! So so so very delicious!
Busy weekend with out-of-town fam arriving tomorrow so I opted for seafood takeout. Called Woods on the Plymouth waterfront (Water Street for those not familiar with Plymouth.) Ordered a crab cake as an appetizer. Also ordered broiled scallops. Choice of sides, so I chose rice (not my usual but watching those calories recently) and coleslaw. Everything was ready as I arrived. The scallops were sweet and super fresh – very generous portion. Lots of rice and two containers of coleslaw and two containers of tartar sauce, and a lemon. They even included plastic flatware! And since I am NOT very kitchen savvy, I asked for heating directions for reheating the crab cake. They were spot on. Highly recommend Woods.
The freshest, the best haddock, steamers, scallops, lobster, and the French fries are great too, dined there twice this week, been going for 50 years.
The food is delicious. It’s a window where you order and then they have a separate dining room overlooking the harbor. Not a fancy place, but excellent food. Attached is a fish market where you can buy fresh fish (to cook at home) pretty much right off the boat.
It’s a small rustic seaside restaurant with fresh, consistently well prepared seafood. Personally have NEVER had a bad meal. The seafood market always has fresh, fresh product!
Wood’s Seafood on the Plymouth waterfront is often recommended as a destination for good food. It’s a favorite, though our visits are less frequent. The clams and scallops looked so good, but I opted for a fish sandwich (and discarded the roll) and DH had the fish and chips. The price was right, $5.95 for mine and $8.95 for his! Can’t beat that! And it was plentiful and delicious.
Wood’s on Plymouth town wharf still offers the best fried seafood in the area. That was confirmed Friday when we drove the 3 miles from home to see for ourselves that quality is still there.
A plate full of fish, clams with good bellies and delicious scallops was served with French fries in a separate dish. That mere fact, French fries served separately, means a lot, eliminating the chance of grease transferring from the fish. Another fact, there was no grease to worry about, a definite plus for Woods.
We enjoyed our shared seafood platter from a window seat on this chilly spring day.
While we are Woods fans, fried seafood does not often make our lunch menu, but a peek at a nearby diner’s lobster roll may bring us back to try one. And, summer is for tourists, so those of use lucky to live in town often keep the good dining spots for off season!
