Abbey Grill Opens in Former Church in Fall River MA
The Herald News shared the openning of the new restaurant Abbey Grill in Fall River in beautifully restored Victorian church.
The Abbey Grill is open in the former cloister of the Central Congregational Church. The church was built in 1875 to serve the wealthy of Fall River. It closed in 1987 when its congregation shrank to 200.
It became a cooking school and event space, but that venture ended in 2009 when the operator walked away. Rain and thieves found their way into the buildings before Lombardi bought the site from the city.
He began restoration work on the cloister, the smaller of the two buildings on the lot.
The restaurant will specialize in Italian food, serving dinners Tuesday to Thursday, 4 to 9:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 4 to 9 p.m.
