Destination Soups

149 Union St
New Bedford, Massachusetts
(508) 991-SOUP (7687)

Destination Soups Restaurant New Beford MARick and Mary First  first stop, of course, was Destination Soups. I (Mary) got the Chick Pea Peanut Curry soup and Rick got the Creamy Tomato Basil soup. Rick loved his soup, me, I am in LOVE with the Chick Pea Peanut Curry soup; this is the best soup I have ever had, hands down. Yea, better than our award winning sausage and corn chowder.

Swampie Buzz   We went to the Zieterion Theater last night. Before the show we went walked around looking for a place to nosh and kill time.   block away we found this place. They had a few outside tables which caught our eye  Blackboard menu, easy to read. Most of the menu is gluten free and/or vegan.  I had a cup of veggie chili. Thick tomato base with beans, carrots, corn, sweet potatoes. Very very good. Came with a hunk of bread. Â Husband got bbq beef veggie bean soup.  I took a bite and next thing I knew I ate his whole bowl. Delish!
We split a roast beef bacon wrap with all the fixins. It also was so good.
Everything is fresh. Employees are friendly and quick.
If in the area a definite must try.

Brick Pizzeria Napoletana

163 Union St, New Bedford, MA 02740
(508) 999-4943

Brick Pizzeria Napoletana Restaurant New Bedford MARick and Mary we shared an appetizer sized onion and green pepper pizza which had a nice thin crust and was cooked to perfection. We also shared an order of the focaccia bread which is cooked in the brick oven and seasoned with garlic and olive oil and comes with a big bowl of sauce to dip the bread in….so good. I could only imagine dipping that focaccia bread in the Chick Pea Curry soup

Swampie Buzz The best pizza ever is at Brick Pizzeria Napoletana on Main St in New Bedford

Cork Wine and Tapas

90 Front St
New Bedford, Massachusetts
508-994-WINE (9463)

Rick and Mary I ordered a cucumber martini and I cant remember the name of the drink Rick ordered, but it was a blueberry flavored martini and we both loved our drinks. For food we ordered the New Bedford Seared Scallops which we both agreed were the best scallops we had ever eaten and the roasted cauliflower€¦so good with just the right amount of spice from the Korean chili powder

A phenomenal Tapas spot.  The drinks-   Oh my these Martini’s rocked.
I had a Blueberry Martini   and Mary had a Cucumber Martini.
We are on a health kick! Â The Pan Seared Scallops  The Roasted Cauliflower   Absolutely delicious.  The menu description was exactly what we got.  I wish I had taken a picture of the menu.

Swampie Buzz Decided on Cork because the building looks cool! Old stone building with atmosphere. Midday birthday lunch-2:00 and we were the ONLY ones there- I was a little nervous! One employee doing bar, serving and hostess. All seemed odd at first-
Ordered wine flights- many to choose from (happy birthday me!!)
Rhode Island clam chowder (didn’t know there was such a thing)- clear broth chowder, not creamy. Surprisingly spicy- waitress said she thinks chourico in it as well, but after the spicy shock they all liked it.  Fabulous lobster croquettes- basically fried mac and cheese w/lobster (hooray!)  Ordered 8 dishes for 5 of us, just the right amount. Salads, scallops, brussel sprouts, calamari- Burger got sent back 2x 3rd time was a charm- they took it off the bill (not quite the right medium rare ?)

We had the Valentines Price Fix menu….never disappoints. Bottle of Champagne to start. Finace got espresso martini, yum. Courses were: Appy: each got spicy tuna rolls, Salads: each got gorgonzola nuts pear salad Soup: cauliflower for me and spicy sausage and bean him Entrée: goat cheese ravioli him and diver scallops me and Dessert: both got deconstructed smores with chocolate dipped strawberries over melted marshmallow and caramelized graham crackers. from valet to server, nothing to complain about. This is top notch dining in the area. You MUST go

Had dinner at cork in downtown New Bedford last evening as an early birthday dinner. I’ve eaten there maybe 4 or 5 times prior and each time is excellent. Service is top notch and atmosphere is beautiful. It is a tapas style restaurant with a strong Portuguese concentration and lots of fresh seafood. Some of the tapas are entree size, but I recommend getting a few different things to share. I had truffle frites, fried goat cheese over pineapple chutney, potato salad (not traditional), and my partner had the cod loin. I also had a wine flight. 3 3oz pours of wine. Definitely a recommendation, especially when it’s not an arctic vortex as downtown New Bedford is loaded with history and charm!

A little out of Downtown New Bedford

Top Shelf Bar and Grille.

1825 Acushnet Ave, New Bedford, MA

Rick and Mary No, not done yet.  Forward to Top Shelf Bar and Grille.  A couple of Mai Tai’s.
Just a bit too sweet.  Still drank it all.  We shared Lobster Cakes,  Shrimp Cakes and Coconut Fried Shrimp.  The Lobster Cakes and Shrimp Cakes  were not what we were expecting.
Mary did not like them, But big surprise- I did  The Coconut Shrimp were delicious.
We were going to hit another place,  but we were tired and full.
