Here is some of the Swampie Buzz – mostly negative

Went to Memphis Joes BBQ Sports Bar in Weymouth (450 Washington St). Had a groupon so we figured it was worth a try. Lots of BBQ (obviously) but also had some TexMex. Portions were big. Prices were average (pictured combo plate was $16). Food was amazing. They were short staffed so once we got our food, waitress didn’t come back til the end and we needed drink refills. Husband loved it so much he brought our son back today and said the service was much better and attentive. Mac and cheese was excellent. Veggies were tasty and not heavy on the oil (which I find in most places). The cornbread was almost cake like. The pulled pork had a different taste (waitress said Rosemary?) but I loved it because it gave it just a hint of something different. And the ribs were all meat and no fat. Definitely will be back.

We’ve driven past this restaurant near the junction of Rt 18 and Rt 53 in Weymouth so many times without stopping. In the interest of food science and comparison purposes (my last review was Kinfolk’s!) we stopped on a rainy Sunday afternoon. They had just opened within the hour and we were the first customers. It is an older, dark, still smokey-smelling sports bar atmosphere with walls of televisions. We ordered BBQ brisket and pulled pork sandwiches. I subbed the fries for mac-n-cheese. The mac-n-cheese was excellent! The coleslaw was served in a condiment cup-sized plastic cup. Since it wasn’t memorable in taste I stopped complaining about the small portion. My pulled pork sandwich on a Kaiser bun however was very tasty with a slab of bacon. A fried pickle (not worth eating) adorned the top of the bun. My husband’s brisket sandwich was a bit dry and he had to ask for additional BBQ sauce. It was OK but not great. My husband was missing the smokey infusion from Kinfolk’s. The fries were done well.
All in all, it was a good, quick stop on our way home but not a destination site. In other words, for us it’s a one and done.

I dined this afternoon at Memphis Joes BBQ in Weymouth. I will not get into specifics but if you enjoy good BBQ avoid this joint like the plague.

I do not recommend Memphis Joes in Weymouth. The service was horrible, she took my boyfriends order and walked away without taking mine. I order chicken mac and cheese. The discription said mac and cheese with breaded garlic parm chicken. What I got was a bowl of elbow mac, with chicken over it in some kind of liquid not sure what it was. There was clearly no cheese. Don’t waste your time or money..
