Here is the buzz from their current restaurants

Sunday was my family’s first visit to Casa

Vallarta in Saugus and we cannot wait to go back. We went for my daughter’s birthday and the staff could not have been nicer. Our server was Julio and he truly treated us like family. The band was excellent, the restaurant was alive, just a great atmosphere. Oh did I mention the food was excellent as well. If you want a fun and delicious meal out Casa Vallarta is a great spot.

The food is delicious and everyone working there is nice + really seem to love their job! If waiting for something at Sprint, definitely go get a bite to eat! If not, is worth the trip to try the food. Alcohol & non-alcohol drinks; tv at the bar with the game on, or sit at the dining area! Service is fast & great!!

The drinks are very large and tasty, food was excellent and attentive service. We will definitely be back again! The beef taquitos were exceptionally good. I expected ground beef but instead was big pieces of beef inside. The fried red snapper was cooked perfectly. The salsa and chips with the bean dip are great too!

Review on the Swampie page  on the Falmouth locationMy first review – casa Vallarta in Falmouth. We have a toddler so we haven’t actually eaten in, but their take out has been yummy twice.   We get a you pick 3 combo meal and a side of guacamole, just enough for two hungry parents! The chimichanga didn’t travel well and the shredded pork is spicy, so on our second try we had beef enchilada and burrito and a chicken taco.  We are Colorado folk so the lack of this sort of food, around here, is rough. We are happy this place opened and will for sure go back

An  early New Years Eve dinner at the Casa Vallarta Mexican Restaurant. Thanks so much Dana & Art for our Christmas Gift Certificate! We love it there! The staff is always so friendly! Our steak and chicken fajitas were so Delicious! Mark loves their Presidente Margaritas, and I love their Sangria! We even split a Yummy fried ice cream dessert! We are sooo full and have lots of leftovers for tomorrow night!

Everytime I walk in to Casa Vallarta, I feel like I’m back in Mexico. I love the atmosphere. The service is fantastic, food is as well and they’re very prompt in getting it out even when they are packed (which is most of the time). They make great drinks and I love the complimentary appetizers they offer. They’ve done a great job and it’s nice to have them in Falmouth!

Joe’s American Bar & Grill is a neighborhood staple for traditional American cuisine. At Joe’s, we focus on using the freshest quality ingredients for all our dishes as well as providing a comfortable and fun atmosphere for all our guests.

Could only find one review of the South Shore location

We went to Joe’s American Bar & Grill, at the South Shore Mall today. First things ordered were spicy Bloody Marys. They hit the spot! Just had to ask for olives and our waiter delivered. No apps, though the Ahi tuna tartare and Baja fish tacos were tempting! First we had fresh baked bread and butter on the house. Then, a Chili-Lime Chicken Salad with Blackened Chicken, Southern Fried Chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and, pasta with meatballs for the kid. If only the salad came with more of their charred jalapeños. Good stuff! Our last round of drinks were a delicious Ginger Bourbon Lemonade and Manhattan. Our waiter was great. Highly recommend!

Joe’s American Grill is  part of the  Back Bay Restaurant Group.  Joe’s still operates restaurants in several other Massachusetts locations in including  Newbury St, Boston, Dedham, Framingham and Woburn.

Who knows what will replace it? Davios is coming to the Plaza in the coming months.  Wonder what will replace Joe’s

Authentic Mexican Food, Tacos de Lengua and Tortas is the best in the South Shore, I highly recommend this place if you want to taste the real Mexican flavor, i feel the spirit of Mexico. Thanks Francisco, outstanding food & service.

Love this place. Wish my waistline would allow me to eat here more often than once in awhile. Atmosphere is like sitting in Grandma’s kitchen, watching her cook up a meal.

If you love Mexican food, go here! The large burrito is a meal in a tortilla. Very fresh ingredients. My husband wasn’t sure if he wanted Verde sauce on his  enchiladas, so the owner said try it; if you don’t like it, have something else, no extra charge! Great guy, great customer service.

Love Avocados! Everything is so fresh and good. Great options for vegetarians, you can get anything without the meat.

Quality food. Good Service. Decent prices. Taco salads and burritos are delicious.

Great service, great authentic food. I have not found a place even close to this good and authentic on the south shore. The owner is very nice and helpful when ordering. The burritos are huge and the tacos amazing. Please go and check it out i want this place around for long time! I promise you will be happy you went.

Absolutely fantastic! If you order chicken, a fresh boneless, skinless chicken breast is cooked to order! Everything is fresh and full of flavor. I’m not a fan of cilantro but there are plenty of non-cilantro options including fresh sliced avocado in lieu of guacamole. Thank you!

I’d rate Avocadoes a 10 out of 5 if I could. It’s the best food ever!! We’ve ordered multiple times and its always amazing. One time my order was messed up a little (had something on it I didn’t want) and it was still the best taco salad I’ve ever eaten. If you love Mexican food you need to try this place.

Coal Oven pizza is cooked different than your typical pizza  t that makes it unique. In coal ovens the temperature is uneven, affecting the texture of the pizza and requiring that the pizzas be rotated constantly, he said, explaining that it’s the texture that makes every slice different.

Freda’s, a family owned and operated full service restaurant opened on Thursday, January 22, 1987, in the midst of a major snowstorm.  Opening day was a success despite the raging storm outside, Freda’s out of the way location and the building’s storied past.

Going on 30 years of business, we’ve seen the best of times and the worst of times, and have managed to persevere with the help of our wonderful employees.

Our continued success can also be attributed to our many faithful and loyal customers who consider Freda’s their home away from home.

Set back off the road in a residential neighborhood, Freda’s is the kind of place where you can catch up with old friends and make some new.

The ambience of our restaurant is captured in the essence of its namesake, Freda (Owner Steve Stathis’ mother) known for her outgoing personality and welcoming nature.

Steve’s goal is to offer quality, casual gourmet at affordable prices served by our friendly staff.

Freda’s offers a wide variety of Appetizers, Entrees, Homemade Soups, Salads, Sandwiches, Pizzas and Desserts. Our Daily Specials often include selections such as Grilled Salmon with Pineapple Salsa, Swordfish with Garlic Herb Butter, Dry Rub Sirloin with Port Wine Sauce, Greek Style Baked Lamb & Chicken Bangkok.

Join us when celebrating that special occasion with a bottle of wine and one of our creative sauteed specialties, or meet up with friends for drinks and appetizers.

If Dad wants Prime Rib, Mom wants Caesar Salad, and the Kids want Pizza, then head on in to Freda’s!

Freda’s has been a Swampie favorite for many years

Went to a WONDERFUL restaurant last night in West Bridgewater called Freda’s. It was new to me, beautiful inside the waitress was amazing! The deals were great for a Wednesday night! Just thought I’d share this Intel with everyone who is looking to try somewhere new! I will now be a regular at Freda’s it was that perfect!

We are seated promptly and our waitress was right there to take our drink order. Quickly returns, delivers and off she goes.1 sip and somethings wrong. It’s just tonic water & lime, but it ain’t right. We ask our waitress & she assures us it’s is tonic water. We insist it isn’t right & she dutifully goes and checks. She reports the machine is malfunctioning. AND the owner is running out to get some right now to replace your drink. WOW! Steve Stathis, the owner, knows how to take care of his customers.
I ordered the fried chicken breast & the wife ordered chicken marsala.
The fried chicken was fantastic. Perfectly cooked, lightly battered. Moist and tender and the taste is so good. And the sauce they put on it was very good, not relying on salt for flavor.
The chicken Marsala was flavorful & tender. Delicious. The sauce was delightful.
The servings were sufficient to stuff us both & each have take home bags for future eats.
No bad or ugly here.
I have read mixed reviews of Freda’s here. I can say without hesitation this was a very good experience. They have a sign that says something like ‘we don’t serve fast food. We serve good, home cooked foods as fast as we can’. They lived up to it last night!

I told them all about Fredas because of their $10 buck Tuesday deals.
What this consists of is a soup or salad, and a wonderful entree and for $2 dollars more, you can get a scrumptious and decadent dessert!
Our Waitress was Robin who remembered me from my last visit when we were celebrating my parents new purchase of a vehicle. Talk about a memory!
She is friendly, accurate and quick! She cleared away our dirty plates which is a huge plus for me when I dine out. Our drinks were refilled and extra napkins were given without asking and our meals came very quick considering it was busy in there.
Oh yeah and she brought us out some fantastic HOT FRESH FROM THE OVEN ROLLS!
I ordered the chicken and broccoli Aioli over ziti.
My two friends order the identical dishes and that was haddock Nantucket and that was a piece of haddock topped with cheese and then a breadcrumb stuffing on top of that. They both got the same sides which were homemade mashed potatoes and zucchini.
My friends hadn’t been there in a very very long time and as we were eating our salads, one of my friends looked at me and said, “I cannot wait to come back here!!” To which I replied, “you haven’t even got your meal yet! Wait until you try the seafood here!”
The salad dressing is one that I cannot describe because it’s something you have to taste for yourself! So fresh and everything is homemade! The salad is out of this world!
Anyway, we got our meals and my friends absolutely LOVED their food! Everything was hot, fresh and tasty.
We ordered 2 desserts: Oreo mousse cheesecake and a chocolate chip cookie brownie with vanilla ice cream.
The Oreo cheesecake was HEAVEN!!!!!!!! Light, fluffy and delicious!
If you are looking for some down home, real good food that’s completely homemade, head over to Fredas.

My mom remembered that Fredas
has deal called “$10 buck Tuesday”. What this essentially is, are five or six at meals with soup or salad and if you want dessert, it’s an extra $2. again, the desserts are also fixed and not on the regular dessert menu.  I decided to go out of my comfort zone and try something different. They had a dish called chicken pesto with sun-dried tomatoes and cheese tortellini. I am not a fan of pesto at all so I asked the waitress if I could substitute for another sauce. She couldn’t have been more accommodating!! She offered me an alternative of either Alfredo or a red sauce. I opted for the red marinara sauce. I got the salad with the house Italian dressing which is a creamy Italian and is out of this world!  My mom got the dish I believe is called haddock Nantucket but consisted of was a piece of haddock, cheese on top of that and then seafood stuffing on top of that along with a side of carrots and mashed potatoes. She also got a cup of soup with her meal which tonight was, green pepper soup, that she said was incredible and she ate the whole entire cup which she hardly ever does!  My dad loves macaroni and cheese so he decided on that. He also got a tossed salad with thousand island dressing.  By the way, our waitress’ name was Robin. She was PHENOMENAL!!! She was friendly but not overbearing, she was informative but not pushy and she attended to our every need.  Our food was hot, fresh, and a great deal for 12 bucks! Yes, we did get dessert 🙂  I got a chocolate cupcake covered in ganache with a raspberry sauce, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and apparently the chef makes his own whipped topping which was magic to my tastebuds! I’ve never eaten anything like that in my life!   My dad opted for the tapioca putting forth with cream, and my mom got the chocolate mousse at my persuasion.  All desserts were two thumbs up

Here is the Swampie Buzz

Dinner at Mia Regazza. Started off with the antipasto for one which was large enough for two! Delicious! Hubby had eggplant parm. I had the Chicken and sausage Mediterranean. Great service from our waitress Kristen. Always a great meal at Mia Regazza.

Some I took the advice of some fellow swampies and tried Mia Regazza…all I can say is excellent service (by Chelsea) and excellent food and presentation???? we sat outside in the gazebo area and it was very relaxing…cant wait to go back!!!! Restaurants lately have been subpar so this was very refreshing. It was my brothers birthday and he had a free birthday tirimisu!!! Yummmo!! Excellent food excellent value!!

It was 5:30 got right in, the waitress was good got our drinks, bread and oil right away. My wife got a special shrimp, lobster, haddock, clams, thin pasta and cream sauce. It was delicious the sauce was a little thin so we got messy. I had the Mia medley 2 steak tips, 2 scallops wrapped in bacon, stuffed lobster tail, roasted potatoes and asparagus. It was all good but the lobster tail the meat was so stuck to the shell I couldn’t get a bite. It was very loud and the bus girl tried to grab our plates twice while we were eating. No place is perfect over all it was very good and the bill was under $60.

Went to Mia Regazza Sunday with my wife, son and father-in-law. Really good food. First pic is the chicken eggplant combo, next is the sausage chicken bolognaise, next the seafood fra diavlo and next was the eggplant parm. Mmmm good. The desert was lemon berry pie. Delicious! I want to add that the service was excellent, from the bus boy to the water attendant to our server. I would recommend this place to everyone

Service per usual was outstanding from start to finish. We started out with the special martini of the day. Along the lines of a creamsicle I had back in the childhood days…yummy. Fresh bread with olive oil and shaved Parmesan was delish. Our dinners included pan seared scallops with risotto and asparagus, chicken Parmesan (not pictured), chicken and sausage Alforno, and chicken and sausage Mediterranean. We all thoroughly enjoyed our dishes. I never leave disappointed!

KKatie's Burger Bar Now Opened in Quincy's Hancock District

It is a part of the new Hancock district which includes some new restaurant and a number of established ones

Here is some of the Swampie buzz on its other locations

Finally made it to Kkatie’s Burger Bar in Plymouth, and was pleased to find that it lived up to the hype. I was surprised to find the place packed at 7:45 on a Tuesday in the “off season”. Burgers took about 40 minutes, but it was well worth the wait. Hubby and I both ordered the peppercorn, horseradish burger with caramelized onions – delicious! I asked for medium rare, but my burger was cooked medium, it didn’t matter it was so juicy anyway. The waitstaff are very friendly and welcoming, feels like being at Cheers. We will definitely go back to try some of the other burgers.

I spent the weekend in Hyannis. On Saturday, I tried Kkatie’s Burger Bar for the first time. It is on Main Street in Hyannis. It is a casual and small place. It is a cool atmosphere. I had the turkey burger with lettuce and tomato. It was very good. The side option was the sweet potato fries. The fries were not good. The menu consisted of appetizers, burgers, and sandwiches. They offer a variety of burger creations. I will definitely be back to try some more. The other locations are Plymouth, Marshfield, and Quincy. The bartender was friendly. We were talking with him. He use to bartend at a few restaurants in Plymouth. Overall it was a good experience.

Marshfield  location  :Me and my wife went to a restaurant with great reviews. I had the Double Decker Burger with Tater Tots, instead of hamburger buns it was with 2 grilled cheese sandwiches…so good, and my wife had the Blue Burger with Truffle Fries blue cheese stuffed inside and caramelized onions, and blue cheese dressing…yum, the food was good, our waitress was great. Sorry I forgot to take a picture of her burger. We will definitely be going back there soon. There also opening one in Quincy too, I can’t wait for it to open.

Marshfield location : I broke a long burger fast at KKatie’s Burger Bar in Marshfield last Friday for lunch and was very pleasantly surprised. We started with a basket of deep fried pickles and banana peppers, both with a light crunchy coating. They worked dipped in either the provided ranch dressing or ketchup. The french fries that came with the burgers later appeared handcut. Everything from the fryer was superhot and fresh from the kitchen.

I’m pretty sure the patty was fried on a flattop, not broiled or grilled, but I didn’t confirm. I feel this is the best way to go when you order well done, because the patty was piping hot and moist. Reminded me of the great burgers at Mr. Bartley’s in Cambridge. It was also huge: 8 ounces is stated on the menu and, honestly, I started to slow down after 6. The “Hell” burger had fresh jalapenos, NOT pickled, which makes a huge difference. I also noticed that the menu is careful to note when a burger has blue cheese vs. blue cheese DRESSING, which makes all the difference — I’m going to give that a try next time. One of the “extras” you can put on your order is a fried egg. Service was quick. Decor and ambience is “friendly tavern.” Much of the seating is bar stools. The beer was served in a Mason jar.  I had a great meal and will be returning. I like this place a lot because they are paying great attention to doing one or two things very well.

I live only a few short blocks from this great restaurant and am ashamed I had only once grabbed a burger take-out from here last year! Kkatie’s Burger Bar, Plymouth, MA, was my destination for dinner this evening with my dear friend Jourdyn. This very popular downtown Plymouth eatery, 38 Main Street, was jam packed to capacity. Even with the crowd we were seated in less than 10 minutes. We had ordered drinks at the bar, and our waiter Luke (excellent waitperson with the best ever Irish brogue) brought our drinks to our table. I opted for a light and refreshing Stella Artois beer, which I ordered 2 more of during my meal, while my friend had a Long Island Iced Tea. Luke suggested my beer and it was perfect. We started with probably the biggest platter of nachos I’ve ever seen, topped with a scrumptious chili add-on, lots of cheese and other typical nacho toppings, accompanied by plenty of salsa, sour cream and guacamole. We barely made a dent in it, and asked our waiter to split it for us and box it in separate boxes. My burger of choice was their famous Black & Blue burger, which was cooked to perfection. It’s an Angus burger seared in Cajun spices with cheddar Jack cheeses melted inside, topped with creamy blue cheese dressing, lettuce, tomatoes and apple smoked bacon. I chose their curly fries. They were superb. Of course I boxed half of this meal. Jourdyn opted for a traditional bacon cheeseburger, with the usual toppings, which was huge, and their awesome house fries. Even their pickles were perfection! We chose to pay extra for the chili on our nachos, an extremely generous portion at a $3.99 up charge. The curly fries were $1.29 extra over regular fries, but well worth their awesomeness. Our check was only $56.71. Service was wonderful and we gave our waiter Luke $20. All in all a perfect night out. Walking the few blocks back to my home we gazed out over Brewster Gardens and caught a lovely glimpse of our beautiful Plymouth harbor! I highly recommend this restaurant!!!
