Duxbury Food & Wine Festival 2016

The third annual season of Duxbury Food & Wine Festival, celebrating the local culinary, wine and beer scene, opens on Thursday, September 15  2016, with a variety of events showcased through Saturday, October 1. duxbury-food-and-wine-festival-300x153

Discover the discriminating and decadent flavors of Duxbury as local food and wine innovators team up to present 10 spectacular events throughout the community. The Festival celebrates the local bounty of farm fresh foods, with talented chefs, foodies and connoisseurs, exploring a wide variety of carefully selected wines and craft beers from around the world.

Highlight events of the Festival include Farm Day – A Free Food For Thought Experience, on Saturday, September 17, 11 am to 3 pm, at the historic O’Neil Farm, 146 Winter Street, Duxbury, admission is free. Enjoy a better understanding of where our food comes from and the people behind the scenes with this farm to fork experience. This year’s event is again free admission to all ages! Free talks and demonstrations offer experiential learning centered around thoughtful farming and eating. Learn more about pasture-raised and grass-fed meats and the advantages off adding this local source to your family’s meals. Kids of all ages observe life on a farm, including bees, goats, cows and a milking demonstration!

Oktoberfest returns on Friday, September 23, 6:30 to 10:30 pm, at The Bavarian Tent at Snug Harbor, 459 Washington Street, Duxbury, admission is $25 per person, or $40 per couple. Enjoy an evening of casual appeal with German and craft beers supported by local distributors, including Fall Fest beers and October Seasonal selections. Craft cider, German red and white wines and food selections enhance an evening of live music and dancing. Costumes are encouraged to participate in the “Best Dirndl and Lederhosen Costume Award” along with a beer stein holding contest!

This year’s centerpiece is the popular Grand Tasting event, on Saturday, September 24, from 3 to 6 pm, at The Tent at Snug Harbor, 459 Washington Street, tickets are $25. Explore a sampling of wines, food, beers and many varieties of unique culinary treats from local restaurants. Live music, an outdoor café, and chef demonstrations are staged throughout the afternoon.

The elegant Festival Gala wraps up the celebration on Saturday, October 1, from 6 to 9 pm, at Marshfield Country Club, 515 Moraine Street, Marshfield, tickets are $90 per person, $170 per couple. Guests enjoy select vintners’ elite labels and food pairings at international food and wine stations throughout the evening. Experience the ambiance of the Clubhouse’s newly restored interior or mingle outdoors on the patio with friends in the ‘Gala Lounge’.

As a non-profit organization, The Duxbury Food & Wine Festival is pleased to support local charities including The Lions Club, The Duxbury Food Pantry and The Duxbury High School Culinary Scholarship.
